A little about myself

I’m Rens van Eldijk (he/him) a 26-year-old from a small village in The Netherlands. I just graduated from Uppsala University in Visby from their Game Design & Project Management program. During my education, I had the goal of acquiring the skills necessary for a designer or producer in the games industry.

Initially, after graduating from secondary education, I tried following a path into IT until I quickly realized that direction wasn’t exactly it for me. For the next 4 years, I worked at a web shop in Nijmegen, improving my work mentality and social skills. After doing a lot of introspection about what I liked about my time while studying IT, my general interests, and the job I had for 4 years, I found the next path to pursue.

In the Game Design & Project Management program at Uppsala University, I found this next path. Game Design had been a growing interest, but it didn’t click as the sole path to follow. However, this program allowed me to follow my interests in project management next to game design and was incredibly interesting to pursue.

Over the past 3 years while studying, I worked on both my Game Design & Project Management skills. I can say that I feel pretty confident (for a recent graduate) in both fields. My passion for working as a game designer or producer has grown strong while studying, and I get a lot of joy from designing games with my teams and seeing them accomplish their goals and excelling. I can’t wait to enter the industry and finding a great team to work with.
